Pinon Hills Fatal Crash Kills Three Family Members
A family is grieving after three relatives were killed in a head-on crash on Highway 18 in Piñon Hills during Mother’s Day weekend.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the crash was reported just before 8 p.m. Saturday on Highway 18 in Piñon Hills. Law enforcement said that, for reasons still under investigation, a Jeep appeared to have veered into oncoming traffic before striking a minivan head-on.
Loved ones told NBC Los Angeles that two parents, their three children, and their nephew were traveling to a family gathering when the crash happened. The family was traveling in a Honda Odyssey. Those who died were identified as 18-year-old Alfredo Orozco, 51-year-old Maricela Orozco, and 58-year-old Javier Hernandez Ramirez.
Authorities reported that three other relatives survived the crash and were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Jeep also survived. The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the collision.
