Google bus struck and killed a woman walking through a community college in Saratoga

On January 3, 2017, a Google charter bus struck and killed Xiaolan Luo, a San Jose woman, on the campus of West Valley College in Saratoga, California.  The bus traveling southbound, turning left from Fruitvale Avenue onto Athletics Way, according to the West Valley-Mission Community College District Police Department.

Heavy rain and winds were in the area when the collision occurred. It is believed Luo worked at the nearby Saratoga Retirement Center, and was walking from there to a bus stop at Fruitvale and Allendale avenues, about a quarter-mile north of the collision site.

The bus was operated by Storer Coachways, and chartered by Google to transport its employees to and from parking lots at the community college.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office traffic accident reconstruction team is assisting with the collision investigation. Anyone with information about the case can contact police at 408-741-2068.
