Teen Struck And Killed By Car In Pittsburgh By chris on December 05, 2016

Jordyn Molton of Pittsburgh, California, she was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street.

Jordyn Molton, a 13-year-old girl from Pittsburgh, California, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, after she was struck by a car while crossing the intersection of Harbor and School Streets near Pittsburgh High School.

Police report that the teenager was walking west on School Street in a marked crosswalk with friends, just east of Pittsburg High School. The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. An investigation is ongoing. Police stated initially that the driver may have had a green light when the car entered the intersection.

While pedestrians owe a duty of using due care for their safety, California Vehicle Code section 21950 requires that the driver of a vehicle "yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection."

We offer our condolences to the family and friends of Jordyn Molton.
