Toddler suffers broken neck in Interstate 880 crash By chris on April 11, 2013

A San Leandro toddler is recovering from a broken neck after an I-880 Sideshow went awry last month. CBS San Francisco reports that the toddler was injured on March 20th around 10 p.m. in a rear-end car accident that happened after a Sideshow crash created significant traffic.

A California Highway Patrol officer said the so-called Sideshow involved a single silver sedan.

"All traffic had stopped and he was just doing a few donuts and then he ended up colliding into a concrete wall there in the center median," the CHP officer said.

The 2-year-old was in a car with his mother and grandmother. The car was in traffic, waiting for the stunts to finish when it was rear-ended by a truck that couldn't stop in time. Authorities say that the toddler was bleeding from the mouth but doctors could not find anything wrong with him after performing tests.

A few weeks passed and the child was not able to straighten his head, so his mother brought him into the hospital. Doctors realized that the child had a broken neck and performed major surgery.
