A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in the West Portal neighborhood. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the woman and her husband were walking at the intersection of Vicente Street and West Portal when a car hit them shortly after 9:40 p.m.

Both the pedestrians and the driver claim to have had the right-of-way. Emergency crews rushed the woman to San Francisco General Hospital. Reports indicate that her husband did not suffer serious injuries in this pedestrian accident.

Another recent serious pedestrian accident happened near San Francisco's border with Daly City. Authorities say that a San Francisco man was crossing the San Jose Avenue near 6:30 a.m. one morning when a driver hit him. The 69-year-old pedestrian was killed in the accident.

The drivers in both accidents stayed at the scene and cooperated with police officers. Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as factors in both crashes. It is unclear whether either driver will face criminal charges or personal injury litigation arising out of the pedestrian accidents.
