San Francisco saw its second fatal pedestrian accident of 2013 according to recent reports in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Streetsblog San Francisco. The accident happened at 7th and Howard Streets in the SoMa neighborhood. Authorities say that the victim was a 44-year-old accountant who lived in San Lorenzo and worked for a nearby advertising firm.

"That's crazy," the ad firm's CEO told the San Francisco Chronicle. "She was a very sweet and superb person. She was a good worker."

It is unclear what caused the accident, but authorities say that two drivers ran over the woman and stayed at the scene. The drivers also appear to be cooperating with police officers. The weather appeared to have been clear during the rush hour pedestrian accident.

"Two people have already been killed while walking this year in San Francisco," said the executive director of Walk SF. "When she was hit by two cars and killed, [the victim] was likely walking home from work. That shouldn't be a life-threatening activity, especially in San Francisco."

The Streetsblog SF calls the wide one-way streets in the SoMa area "speedways for drivers." Recently San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has pledged funds to help make pedestrian crosswalks safer.
