California Motorcycle Gear Manufacturer Faces Product Liability Lawsuit By chris on August 02, 2012

Two California motorcycle racing gear manufacturers were recently sued by a Motocross racer who was allegedly injured when a neck brace failed. The motorcyclist filed suit in Los Angeles County last week alleging that he sustained serious and permanent personal injuries due to a defective Leatt Moto GPX neck brace manufactured and distributed by Leatt Corporation and Cycle Gear Inc.

Product liability cases are one of many types of legal actions that can arise out of a motorcycle accident. Manufacturers and product sellers can be held liable for personal injury-related expenses when a motorcyclist's injuries are caused by or worsened by a defective product.

Some products can cause a motorcycle accident to occur, such as faulty tires. Other products can exacerbate a motorcyclist's injuries in the event of an accident, such as a defective helmet or neck brace.

The motorcyclist at the center of the most current product liability suit against a California motorcycle product manufacturer alleges that he suffered severe personal injuries due to his failed neck brace. The motorcyclist alleges that he "has incurred and will continue to incur for the rest of his life medical, hospital, incidental and related expenses," and also seeks damages for pain and suffering and lost wages, among other things.
