San Francisco Motorcyclist Dies in Golden Gate Park Crash By chris on July 09, 2012

A San Francisco man was killed last Wednesday after a motorcycle accident in the Golden Gate Park. The Bay City News reports that accident happened on Park Presidio Boulevard shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist appears to have hit a sedan while turning into a curve on the road. The impact of the crash threw the motorcyclist over the hood of the car and the car then ran him over.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and rushed the motorcyclist to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It is unclear why the two vehicles struck each other, but authorities do not expect to press criminal charges against the car driver. The car driver stopped at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigators according to reports.

We have covered many motorcycle accidents in previous posts and majority of these crashes involve fatalities or catastrophic injuries. This crash is also an example of the common theme in motorcycle accidents where a motorcyclist suffers serious injuries but a car driver walks away from a crash unharmed. The prevalence of fatal motorcycle accidents highlights the need for motorcyclists and cars to share the road and use extra caution while driving.
