Santa Clarita Bus Crash Involving Gravel Truck Injures 13 People
As many as 13 people were reported injured after a gravel truck collided with a Santa Clarita Transit bus and two other vehicles near Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. One bus passenger was reportedly in critical condition after being rescued from the bus, and several others were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
According to reports, the gravel truck was approaching the intersection when the driver allegedly tried to turn right after reaching a yellow light. Officials reportedly said the truck may have been traveling between 50 and 70 mph before the crash. The speed limit on Golden Valley Road was reported to be 50 mph. The crash left gravel scattered across the roadway and caused major traffic delays while emergency crews responded.
Crashes involving commercial trucks and public transit vehicles can raise serious questions about driver speed, braking distance, vehicle weight, load control, road conditions, traffic signals, and whether the commercial vehicle was being operated safely. When a truck is carrying a heavy load, stopping distance and turning control can become a major part of the investigation.
For bus passengers, drivers, and others injured in a multi-vehicle crash, it is important to seek medical care, document symptoms, save photos or videos from the scene, get witness information, and avoid assuming the first police report tells the full story. In serious crashes, evidence such as vehicle data, dash camera footage, maintenance records, driver logs, and company policies may become important.
Commercial vehicle crashes can involve several possible parties, including the truck driver, trucking company, vehicle owner, maintenance provider, cargo/loading company, public transit operator, or another driver involved in the collision. Determining fault often requires a careful investigation into what happened before impact.
